Tidal Power - Energy From The Sea

A few years ago, "tidal power" also known as "tidal barrage". But these days there are another options as well.

How It Works?
These works like a hydro-electric power except the dam is much bigger. A huge dam (called "barrage") is built across the river estuary. When the tide goes in and out, the water flows through the tunnel in the dam. The flows of the tide can turns the turbines.

There are another options it. It is to used
offshore turbines likes an underwater wind.

This have an advantage of being
much cheaper to built and does
not have environment problem (used a small area to built) rather than tidal barrage.

The "Swanturbines" is design different from others and the most significant is that it is direct drive where the blades are connected directly to the electrical generator. Another different is the blades are fixed rather than actively controlled. Design out component that could be unreliable.
